REEF - New additions to the summer

After an amazing early part of the summer spent cavorting around at the Isle Of Wight Festival, Glastonbury Festival, and Cornbury Festival with utterly flabbergasting responses which left the band speechless, REEF packed up their back line into the vast shed whilst Gary & Jack made ready for a new release - no, not what you’re thinking, not the entirely splendid StringerBessant “Yard” album (available on Xtra Mile Records now) - but a new baby, each!
Jonah and Gladys recently joined us so it’s sleepless nights for an entirely different and wonderful reason until the the band head out on the road again next month. Another festival has been confirmed for September with the Temple House Festival in Ireland on 11 September adding to Bingley Music Live on 4 September and LemonFest on 18 September. Show details with ticket links are available on the site in the forthcoming events section.

Thanks again for the overwhelming support at the festivals, it was truly a pleasure.

Reef - November and December Show News..

To follow on from five festivals over this summer, we are excited to announce the extension to the extremely exciting April excursion.. we’ll be playing five more shows at the end of the year!

Once again, we are offering a extremely limited VIP option at each show where you can come to the soundcheck, meet the band, get exclusive early access to the merchandise stall and, if Bowler gets his way, take part in a Reef Quiz with the overall countrywide winner getting something really special. Most likely a night out with Bowler. Possibly not.

Message from Kenwyn House of the Reef

Well, I think I’ve just about recovered!
Not the longest tour we’ve ever done, but for me one of the sweetest, for a few reasons:
One, it was great to play those songs again and to realize, with some pride, that what we did all those years ago actually still stands up
Two, that so many people out there think so too and came to the gigs!
Three, it was a real buzz to play together again. What can I say, its always good to play with such musicians at the top of their game!
And finally, to get the same crew (the ‘dream team’ we had so much fun with back in the day) together again was simply f***ing awesome.

Just want to say thanks to everyone involved really… but mainly thanks to all who packed the shows and sung so loud from the crowd!

See you at the festivals!

VIP Ticket Holder Information

If you are a VIP ticket holder for the forthcoming Reef shows, hopefully you will have received this information directly from promoters DF Concerts and Live Nation, but just to recap, here is a brief outline of the schedule:

Your VIP ticket gets you access to soundcheck and a meet with the band prior to the doors opening.

Soundcheck times vary around the tour, please check the times below for the show you are attending.
Meeting the band will happen each night at 18.00

These are show times and subject to change. Please be aware that this is a working tour (this is not a “set up” soundcheck that you are attending!) so please be aware that the band & crew are working to provide the best possible show for everyone which oft involves loud noise, profanity and Ben Doyle.

Please arrive at the venue in time for the start of soundcheck. If you are unable to make soundcheck but can get to the meet the band, that’s fine, security on the door will allow you access. When you arrive at the venue you will be given you city by city VIP Reef laminate in exchange for your ticket.

Glasgow - Soundcheck from 16.00, meet with Reef from 18.00

Norwich - Soundcheck from 17.00, meet with Reef from 18.00

Birmingham - Soundcheck from 17.00, meet with Reef from 18.00

Bristol - Soundcheck from 17.00, meet with Reef from 18.00

London - Soundcheck from 16.00, meet with Reef from 18.00

Manchester - Soundcheck from 17.00, meet with Reef from 18.00

Following on from the meet up with Dom, Gary, Jack & Kenwyn, the merchandise stall will be open 30 minutes up front of the doors opening.

Show times, subject to change, are roughly 20.00 for the rather splendid Matthew P and REEF on stage some time around 21.00.

Message from Jack Bessant of the Reef

Playing gigs with Reef again is going to be exciting. We have quite a lot of the original team working along side us, which is what is going to make it special. I have been listening to our songs again recently and am still digging the parts that everyone in the band came up with at the time. Still sounds cool to me.

Enjoying the Sutsu vibes and and getting a slot at Isle of Wight festival is great.

Warm-up gig at Monto Water Rats now sold out

Soccer AM, the support band and a warm up show announcement

Gary and Kenwyn will be appearing on Sky Sports TV show SOCCER AM this weekend.
Gary will be announcing a special London warm up show in a TINY venue.
Tickets for this show will be on sale directly after the show at 12.01 from this web site and the venue web site.

REEF are really excited to have MATTHEW P along for this tour.
I think Matt is equally excited as his first ever show was Reef at Norwich UEA..

Next week, Gary will be on the 6 Music breakfast show and on Talksport that afternoon.

A message from Dominic Greensmith

Firstly, thank you for the overwhelming response to this site and the tour next April, it has been a truly astounding reaction! Over to you, Mr. Dominic Greensmith…

“I always thought that we would some day play together again, and that time is now! It’ll be great. We’ve all been going through the songs to try and get an idea of a possible set list and it’s been really good listening to them again. I forgot how many great songs we recorded. The thought of getting together with Gary, Jack and Kenwyn in a room and making our noise again excites me alot.

The plan is to get together early April, probably somewhere in deepest darkest Somerset, for a couple of weeks to just play again, brush off a few cobwebs, get a bunch of songs sounding great, jump on the magic bus… then rock will commence! Are you up for it?”

In other news, the tour is selling incredibly well, it’s a very exciting time, so thoughts are drifting around the holiday season and toward all that fun stuff for the shows in the new year like rehearsals, warm ups, support bands, merchandise and on that topic -  we’re really excited to announce that SUTSU Merchandise will be extending their longstanding relationship with Them Is Me and doing some brand new designs in very limited editions, one in each of the months in the run up to the tour which will be exclusive via this site. The design will be announced on this site and will only be available via this site, not in shops and not on the tour!

Spring 2010 Reef Tour Tickets Now Up For Pre-sale

These are pre-sale tickets, noting that there will be no pre-sale on the VIP tickets.

VIP TICKETS: The VIP ticket will grant you a laminate, exclusive early entry to see the full sound check and then a pre-show meeting with the band. These tickets are limited to 30 per venue and will cost £10.00 more than the standard tickets. VIP tickets will be available at the same time as general sale tickets, Tuesday 01 December, 2009 at 9.00 am.
